The Band is back with an album of mostly cover tunes. In fact, only two songs are
original compositions. Perhaps, it's for the better though. Back to Memphis is a smooth, bluesy number that translates better on stage than it does
here. Where I Should Always Be is one of the best songs on the collection and it recreates Robbie Robertson's laid-back and mellow style. Rick Danko does a fine job on vocals here and provides
a thundering bass line anchoring Garth Hudson's delicate keyboard playing and flighty soprano
saxophone solo. Forever Young is another of The Band's classic performances of a
Bob Dylan-penned song, and it's lovingly dedicated to the memory of Jerry Garcia — a fitting tribute! ![]()
