The Chicago-based Freddy Jones Band has been gaining more and more national exposure of late, partly due to
its heavy touring schedule and partly due to its appearance on last year's H.O.R.D.E.
tour. Waiting for the Night actually was released back in 1993, but it's
been getting quite a bit of radio attention over the past few months. For those who aren't familiar with the Freddy Jones Band, the group is cut
from the same mold as the Allman Brothers Band
and Widespread Panic, though it also boasts a bit of a
pop twist à la Jackson Browne. The two tracks gaining all the
attention from the media are the very catchy Take the Time and In a Daydream.
Yet, everything on Waiting for the Night is worth a listen, including an excellent cover version of Crosscut Saw. ![]()
