Green Day
Dookie
(Reprise)
First Appeared in The Music Box,
March 1995, Volume 2, #3
Written by John Metzger

Since Woodstock ‘94, Green Day has been everywhere — and deservedly
so. This group of youngsters from Oakland skillfully blasts out three minute, hard-edged yet catchy tunes that are punk-pop gems.
For those who doubt how good this band really is, check out F.O.D. which begins with an acoustic
riff before plunging into its electrified conclusion.
Green Day's songs capture the angst and boredom of youth, characterized a generation ago by
groups like the Sex Pistols and The Clash, and two generations ago by groups like The Who
and The Kinks. It will be interesting to see how Green Day adapts to its
success.
