Matt Pond PA (he’s from Pennsylvania, get it?) has a voice
reminiscent of Robert Smith of The Cure and a songwriting style similar to Josh
Rouse or David Gray. His lush, symphonic brand of emotive pop gets better with
each listen. Filled with string accompaniments and heartfelt lyrics, some might
call Pond’s music chamber pop, while others might call it emo (whatever that
means). After hearing the lovely compositions on The Green Fury,
including Canadian Song and City Plan, I just call it exceptional
music.
