Norah Jones
Come Away with Me
(Blue Note)
T.J. Simon's #15 album for 2002
First Appeared at The Music Box, February 2003, Volume 10, #2
Written by T.J. Simon
An unlikely album to breakthrough to the radio-friendly mainstream, this collection of original and classic torch songs by Ravi Shankar’s comely daughter is the perfect accompaniment to a relaxing evening in front of a fire. Jazzy and alluring, the appeal of Come Away with Me lies in Norah Jones’ sweet vocals and her ear for a good classic tune. By now, everyone probably has heard the radio single Don’t Know Why — by far the disc’s finest track — though the rest of the set is nearly as strong.
