Neil Young - Sleeps with Angels

Neil Young
Sleeps with Angels

First Appeared at The Music Box, October 1995, Volume 2, #9

Written by John Metzger

Although it builds upon his concoctions with Crazy Horse, Sleeps with Angels isn't the most accessible of Neil Young's outings. The songs on this set hit very close to home for Young. In fact, he refused to tour to promote the album. Driven by Kurt Cobain's death, Young wrote some of his most personal lyrics in quite some time. Some of these tunes really jam as well, most notably Change Your Mind, a psychedelically delicious track in the spirit of Down By the River that has been reduced to a 4-minute radio single. starstarstarstar
