Home Grown 3: Organic Grooves is the third compilation disc produced by the Home Grown Music Network, and though it's a very enjoyable collection, it sums up both the best and worst parts of the jam-band music scene. It's hard to judge any of these groups based on a single selection, and any of these songs taken alone is really quite good. However, midway through this disc, which compiles 70 minutes of music, everything from these third-generation bands begins to run together into a hodge-podge of material that is drawn from the usual sources.
Having said that, there are a few tracks on Home Grown 3: Organic Grooves that stood out. These include the jazzy-swing of Hipbone's Wicked, the Appalachian bluegrass-funk
of West Virginia's The Recipe, the driving force of Juggling Suns' Wicked History, and the
psychedelic mayhem of Karmic's Foresight. The bottom line is that if you're into the jam-band
scene, this compilation is certainly a good place start. ![]()
