On January 16, 2008, Dead Meadow celebrated the upcoming release of its fifth studio effort Old Growth. The album will be issued by Matador on February 5, 2008. Over the course of its performance at New York City's Bowery Ballroom, the trio of bass player Steve Kille, guitarist Jason Simon, and drummer Stephen McCarty delivered its brand of stoner rock with all the forcefulness of The Black Crowes and Cream. Old Growth was designed specifically to capture the power of its concerts, and not surprisingly, the show emphasized material from Dead Meadow's new endeavor.
