The Bangles is back! Better still, the gorgeous and fashionable female rockers from the ’80s, who were known for their lush vocals and memorable videos, sound better than ever on We Are the ’80s, their latest greatest hits compilation. For those who ever have enjoyed the Bangles’ music but never got around to buying its albums, the set culls together all of the ensemble’s most essential material in one convenient package. Not only are the earlier singles — such as the Prince-penned Manic Monday, the catchy Going Down to Liverpool, and, of course, the classic Walk Like an Egyptian — represented, but later tracks — like the groovy In Your Room, the bouncy Be with You, a rehashing of Paul Simon’s Hazy Shade of Winter, and the beautiful (if not saccharine) ballad Eternal Flame — also are present. In total, there are 14 impressively produced cuts from the quintessential girl group featured on the outing. Come on, how could you call yourself a child of the ’80s without owning this one? starstarstarstar
