Preceeded by a pair of gritty albums on the Sub Pop label, Bakesale is Sebadoh's first attempt at seeking a wider audience. It all comes together for the group on this one, from the Kinks-like License To Confuse
to the style of Neil Young & Crazy Horse (there he is again!) on Careful, Not a Friend,
and just about every other song on this disc. There's even a few tracks that are surprisingly not
turning up on pop radio, like Magnet's Coil, Got It, and Dreams which fit right
in with many of today's alternative tunes from the likes of R.E.M. to Weezer. In fact, Sebadoh
does it better! ![]()
