Merkin Ball is more along the lines of what Mirror Ball should have been, and it's too bad this EP has only has a pair of tunes on it. Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder picks up the vocals in this union with Neil Young. I Got Id is loud and raucous, and Young's guitar adds a powerful dimension to the song. Long Road is one of those slower Pearl Jam-style ballads, but it's fed through Neil Young's shredding process. Young plays organ on this one, giving it an eerie touch. ½
