First Appeared in The Music Box, April 2007, Volume 14, #4
The 2007 Wanee Music Festival was held on April 13-14 at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. This year's stellar line-up included performances by Rusted Root, Nickel Creek, Gov't Mule, The Radiators, Keller Williams, and many others. Fresh from its annual extended run at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, The Allman Brothers Band performed on the Peach Stage on Friday night. Its 13-song set list included renditions of Les Brers in A Minor, Done Somebody Wrong, Come and Go Blues, and a cover of Van Morrison's And It Stoned Me. Saxophonist Ron Holloway joined the band on Desdemona, pianist Benmont Tench sat in during Woman Across the River, and drummer Yon Rico Scott performed with the group on Don't Keep Me Wonderin', Woman Across the River, Trouble No More, EverY Hungry Woman, Rocking Horse, Black Hearted Woman, and One Way Out. Fortunately, longtime Music Box supporter George Weiss was on hand to provide visual documentation of the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
